The National Research Centre on Yak


Situated in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, The National Research Centre on Yak is a premier research institution that is dedicated to the conservation, improvement, and promotion of Yak farming in India. It is founded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Located 31 km away from Dirang, The National Research Centre on Yak aims at addressing various challenges by conducting research on various aspects of yak farming, such as breeding, nutrition, health, and management practices. It also works towards the conservation of yak genetic resources and the promotion of sustainable yak farming practices. The centre is home to over 150 different varieties of Yak Collection. The centre also conducts research on yak nutrition to develop balanced and cost-effective feed and fodder for the yaks. The research aims to improve the feed quality and quantity, which will help in increasing the milk yield and body weight of the yaks.

DirangDzong is a small town situated in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.
